To the family of Harold Joseph Brine. You don't know me but I felt compelled to send you my heartfelt condolences. Mr. Brine's obituary was printed in The Trentonian in Trenton, Ontario. When I read that he was the last survivor of the Springhill Bump, I just had to reach out. You see, my grandfather, James Goss, from Westville, Nova Scotia was a draegerman and he went down the pit after the bump in Springhill. Maybe, my grandfather and Mr. Brine met all those years ago. One of the good guys in this world has left us. Harold was a true gentleman and one of the kindest, most generous, and most caring people I have ever been fortunate enough to meet.
