Dear Jack, Peter, Tricia and family, I was so very sad and sorry to hear of the loss of Joan, someone so dear to your heart's. I had the honor of working as a teacher assistant at Assiniboine Ave Elementary School with Joan. Joan was a true inspiration and the epitome of a great teacher and college. Her compassion and understanding of her students was exemplary. Her nurturing manner, kindness, care and dedication she gave each of her students allowed each of them, especially those hardest to reach, to grow, succeed and feel proud and confident. As colleagues she extended those same virtues to us. I loved her keen sense of humor. It kept us going on some of our toughest days. She always found joy in the journey. She made a difference!
