Rest Good Gunner Rest.
You have stood where Gods have stood
and rent the sky with thunder.
You have served the guns as heroes would
Till care was cast asunder.
So here now, rest one breathing space
Face proud the end of day.
You bowed not down lest done in grace
For that's a Gunner's way.
Rest, Good Gunner Rest,
turn cartridge case aside.
You served your Colours with the best
Now take your rest with pride.

My sincere condolences to CJ’s family and loved ones. CJ is someone whose path I seemed to cross every few years. I think I first met him socially at the officer’s mess quite a few years ago and then ran into him again a few years later when he was a student on a course I was teaching. I got to know him better on a personal level when we worked together at the Tactics School. He had a sense of humour and point of view that I truly appreciated and was someone with whom I could have very open and honest conversations. His passing is truly tragic and I will miss him.

I'm devastated to hear of CJ's passing, and send my most heart-felt condolences to family and loved ones.
CJ and I worked together briefly a few years ago; what a great friend and co-worker he was. For those who didn't know him, CJ could appear to be all business, but once you broke the ice, you understood how fierce, smart and funny he was. I've got more good memories of CJ than I'm probably entitled to, and I smile even now when I think of how we'd make each other laugh at work. The funny stories (CJ had plenty of them), comments about what was going on in the world, and plenty of humourous observations about work and life in general. Gosh we laughed. CJ made it fun to come in to work each day.
He was like a wonderful sibling. Just a beautiful spirit. CJ, you'll be missed dearly.
