Obituary of Lawrence James Carr
The family of Lawrence James Carr are saddened to announce his passing on January 29, 2025 at Orchardview Longterm Care. Lawrence died peacefully with his sister and wife by his side. Born on January 15, 1929, he was the son of the late Hazen and Muriel (McMillan) Carr and loving husband of 35 years to Elva (Howe) Carr.
Nothing slowed Lawrence down. He worked many years on Base Gagetown, he drove trucks for a time, and he was a woodworker in the forestry industry for 35 years; he was the embodiment of a “jack of all trades”.
Lawrence was known for his love of the outdoors. Whether hunting, fishing, or biking on his quad in the forest, or working in his beloved garden, Lawrence was never happier than when he was in nature. When he found it difficult to get outside in the winter over the last few years, he started and became quite adept at quilting, much to many people’s surprise.
As a Christian, Lawrence was a proud and faithful member of the Works of Faith Assembly in Waasis, New Brunswick.
In addition to his wife, Elva, Lawrence will be missed by his children, Larry (Greta) and Hazen (Kim); special granddaughter, Valerie; Elva’s children, Roger (Brenda), Dana (Susan), Doreen (Delbert), Perry, Darren (Nettie), and Shianne; sister, Mavis Brochu; as well as many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Along with his parents, Lawrence was predeceased by his first wife, Freda (Donovan) Carr, daughters, Lois, Ann, and Louise; brother, Lloyd; and sisters, Joyce Grasse and Kathleen Boone.
The family would like to express their sincere thanks to the staff at Orchardview for the kindness and caring shown to Lawrence over the last few years.
Visitation will take place at Works of Faith Assembly Church in Waasis on Monday, February 3, 2025 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 pm. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 4, 2025 at 2:00 pm Atlantic Standard Time at the church.
