Obituary of Rose Anne Jenkins
Rose Anne Jenkins passed away on February 26 after a brief but hard-fought battle with cancer. She passed peacefully, surrounded by her sons, at the Chalmers Hospital in Fredericton.
Rose was predeceased by her loving husband of 51 years, Charlie Jenkins, and her parents, Frederick and Frieda Carten.
She is survived by her sons, Scott (Erin), Donnie (Marsha) and Michael (Sandra); her aunt, Rita (Murray); and her beloved daughter-in-law, Angela. She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren: Annie (Tristan), Kyle, Ella, Heather, Angela, Jack, and Ellie.
A devoted and lifelong caregiver, Rose raised her sons with love and compassion. Later in life, she cared tirelessly for her husband, Charlie, as he battled injuries and health issues. She was unwavering in her commitment to her family, caring for them day in and day out. Her work as a caregiver was both rewarding and demanding, and she was a fearless advocate for her loved ones—never earning a penny for her efforts, yet giving everything she had.
Rose was happiest at Christmastime, when her home was filled with family, gifts, and an extravagant display of decorations. Her home became a holiday wonderland, and the highlight for her grandchildren was the annual game of “find the pickle,” where she hid a pickle ornament in the Christmas tree, with a prize for whoever found it first. She shopped for presents all year round—often stumbling upon forgotten gifts she had tucked away.
Rose had a passion for baking and loved searching for new recipes to try. Her family was fortunate to enjoy her many delicious creations, which she shared generously and often. Once Rose learned your favorite baked good, you could count on her to surprise you with a personalized treat whenever she saw you.
Her grandchildren were her greatest joy. She watched Annie, Kyle, Ella, Jack, and Ellie play sports, perform in Christmas concerts, and dance in recitals. She sent nightly texts to Scott, asking him to give Jack and Ellie a goodnight hug on her behalf. She hosted countless sleepovers and spent hours in the kitchen teaching them how to make whipped cream, assemble lasagna, and bake cookies. Rose’s love knew no distance—she never stopped R+loving Angela and Heather, even when they couldn’t see each other. Her love and support were constant, no matter where life took those she cherished.
Rose’s love for her friends and family was her greatest strength and gift to the world. She would give you the shirt off her back if you asked for it. Her gentle nature and endless resilience were among her most remarkable qualities.
We love you, Rose. We will miss you terribly.
