Obituary of Shawn Kenneth Reynolds

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Shawn Kenneth Reynolds on March 5, 2025, after a short but courageous battle with cancer. Shawn was lovingly surrounded by his brothers, Todd and Scott Reynolds, as well as his son-in-law and close friend, Denim Henebury, at the time of his passing.

Known fondly as “Grampy Fix-It” by his grandchildren and a true car enthusiast to all who knew him, Shawn was a man whose passion for automobiles was matched only by his dedication to his family and friends. He was always there to lend a hand, sharing his vast knowledge of cars and helping others in any way he could.

Shawn is survived by his beloved partner Kathy; stepchildren, Peter (Brandy) Craig, Katherine (Denim) Henebury, and Matthew Craig. He was a proud grandfather to Emmett, Ellie, and Mikasa, and will be dearly missed by his brothers, Todd (Ann Marie + Christian) and Scott (Megan + Darby); as well as his stepmother, Venia Reynolds. Shawn was predeceased by his mother, Ruth and father, Ken.

From an early age, Shawn’s love for cars was evident. He owned many throughout his life, and his most recent pride and joy was his 1984 Hurst Olds Classic. He spent much of his youth at the drag strip in Penfield and later at the Miramichi Dragway, working on and racing drag cars with his father and brothers. Over the course of his life, Shawn turned his passion into a profession, working as a mechanic at various shops in the Oromocto and Fredericton areas for over thirty years.

Shawn’s final days were spent in the compassionate care of Hospice House Fredericton. The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the incredible team who made Shawn’s last days as comfortable and peaceful as possible.

A celebration of Shawn’s life will be held on Thursday, March 20th from 4-7 pm at the Oromocto Funeral Home. The family warmly invites all who knew him to come share a memory and celebrate his life.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Shawn’s honor can be made to Hospice House Fredericton, ensuring that others in our community can receive the same level of care and comfort that Shawn did.
