Obituary of Adam Jeffrey Hughes
It is with heavy hearts that the family announces the passing of Adam Jeffrey Hughes on March 26, 2025.
Born in Fredericton, NB, on June 11, 1974 he was the son of Valerie (Gardiner) and the late Charles Hughes.
Adam loved electrical work like his father, and was a proud member of Alberta’s IBEW local 424 as a master electrician. He loved Canada, especially Alberta and New Brunwick, and was a huge fan of the Calgary Flames. Family was important to him and he loved his son and nephews dearly. His hobbies included reading, playing armchair detective and to draw and doodle, as well as listening to country music. He was known as an animal whisperer, he loved hunting, fishing and camping.
Besides his mother, Valerie, he is survived by his son, Jonah Hughes; brothers, Cory Hughes (Janie Everett) and Joel Hughes; partner, Erin “Sunshine” Atha; nephews, Aaron, Ryan and Jackson Hughes; numerous cousins, his Aunt Brenda (who was a second mother to him); great-aunt, Charlotte, and many friends.
Adam will be buried near his grandfather and hero, John Gardiner whom he loved and spoke of daily. He will also be resting in the arms of his other grandparents and his dad.
Visitation will be held on Sunday March 30, 2025, at Oromocto Funeral Home from 1-3 pm. Interment will take place at Jemseg Cemetery on March 30, 2025 at 4 pm. For those who wish, donations in Adam’s memory may be made to the Fredericton Food Bank.
