Obituary of George Richard Wheaton

The family of G. Richard Wheaton sadly announces his passing on March 11, 2025, at the age of 81. He was born on February 12, 1944, to Henry and Irene Wheaton, in Saint John, New Brunswick.

Richard was a retired member of the Canadian Armed Forces with the Royal Canadian Medical Corp.

He will be sadly missed by his wife of 59 years, Rosalind Wheaton; children, Glynn, Garry, and Melissa; siblings, Clay, Lois, and Gary; grandchildren, Megan, Brennan, Gareth, and Gavin, and by Alex and Mal, to whom he and Rosalind were caregivers.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the doctors, nurses, and staff at Hospice House, as well as the Extra Mural nurses, Vianne and Linda, for the exceptional care they took of Richard and his family in their time of need.

A memorial service will take place in May. For those who wish, memorial donations may be made to the Oromocto SPCA, the Canadian Wildlife Fund, or a charity of the donor’s choice.
