I am so sorry to hear of Ray’s passing. I remember him feeding me peppermint candies to ease my stomach after stopping in on one of my family’s trips down east. It was only later in years that I understood his commitment to me as my Godfather. He came by the barracks when I was on phase training to give me advice and when he came to my wedding, he still had a picture of me in his wallet. A testament to the f friendship my parents had with Ray and Isabel. So thankful to have spent time with them at the Black Watch Reunion. My deepest condolences to all of you.

Isabel
This giant of a man first captured my attention in the 50’s at the ballpark in Kentville. My admiration continued when we all moved to Werl Germany where I witnessed him play many a hockey game and our families gathered and went on trips together.
Then in the early 60’s we all moved to Oromocto and I experienced the excitement in the rink when the Black Watch played in the New Brunswick hockey league. Ray was always a large presence on the blue line.
His deep calm voice and infectious laugh will remain with me forever. Ray may be gone but never forgotten.

To our former great neighbour’s family,
For approx 55 years we enjoyed the MacDonald family as friends and wonderful neighbours.Raymond was always “jigging around”
his property and assisting others.He fully enjoyed the children of the area especially the street hockey.
He was always willing to lend his help including washing visitors cars!
It is the end of an era for a caring and humble soul.

Sincerest condolences to Isabel, Tom, Doug, Lynda and families on their loss. My mother, Isabel MacDonald Watt, was fond of telling stories of when she lived with Raymond's parents (Alice and Al). Many of her stories involved her two nephews - Raymond and Chester - and how they were often ill-prepared for school presentations, such as spelling bees (Raymond) and Xmas concerts (Chester). Despite the stress this lack of preparation caused my mother, she adored her nephews. She had a particular fondness for Raymond, who lived with my parents at one time post-Korea, and we all welcomed his visits. Raymond and Isabel always were good for visiting family and the photo below captures one such visit to Pictou on August 1, 2018. Their visits were like a “ray” of sunshine – lots of good stories and great laughs. Raymond's was a life well lived and a model to be emulated. Thank you, Raymond!

Our family has many fond memories of Ray. When my father was in St John hospital with his heart issues, Ray drove down to check in with him and make sure we had everything we needed at this worrisome time. We really appreciated that and will never forget him. Dad and Ray were very close friends! Ray also taught Mom how to drive. Sincere condolences to the MacDonald family at the loss of Raymond. My mother knew Isabel well, since they were dear friends and nursing students together (Alice Hebb). My mother often told the story that Isabel would “go home” on the weekend to see family. She was not supposed to ge married as a nursing student, but there she was with the love of her life. The Conroy’s are thinking of you all.
