Obituary of Donald William Cook
It is with saddened hearts that the family of Donald (Donny) William Cook announces his passing on May 8, 2025, at Oromocto Public Hospital.
Born on November 18, 1964, in St. John’s, Newfoundland, he is the son of Donald and Doris (Strugnell) Cook.
Donny retired from the Royal Canadian Navy after 31 years of service as a PO2, Physician’s Assistant. Donny continued to work at CFB Gagetown as Human Resources Coordinator at Transportation Company.
Donny’s greatest love was his family. He and his wife, Debbie enjoyed hosting family gatherings. In fact, Donny and Debbie did most things together. They celebrated many happy events at their home in Burton. Donny was a beloved father and a true hero to his daughter, Amanda. He also adored his 2 granddaughters, Aunica and Ellie.
Donny had a happy life. He was always positive and optimistic, and approached everything with a calm and caring attitude. He loved music, fishing, watching NTV news at supper time, and was a loyal Toronto Maple Leafs fan.
In addition to his parents, Donny will be dearly missed by his wife, Debbie; daughter, Amanda Cook (Kian Hutchinson); step-children, Amanda Coy (Tim), Selina Banks, Ross Banks (Jodell Cameron), and Rico Fink; grandchildren, Aunica Coy and Ellie Hutchinson; sisters, Susan Macek (Mike) and Sherry Elliott (Andrew); and nephews, Justin and James Macek.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 17, 2025, at the Oromocto Funeral Home from 2-4 p.m. For those who wish, a donation in Donny’s memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or charity of your choice.
