Obituary of Joe Monteith
It is with great sadness that the family of Joseph Allan Monteith, husband of Yvette Cormier-Monteith, announce his passing on Monday, May 12, 2025, at the age of 75.
Born on April 17, 1950, to the late Phillip and Phylis Monteith of Saint John, NB, Joe created a beautiful life in which he was a beloved husband, father, brother, grandparent, and great grandparent. Left to cherish his memories alongside the love of his life, Yvette Monteith, are his son, Shaun Monteith; stepchildren Paul (Corilee) McCoy and Dale (Nancy) McCoy of Maugerville, NB; grandchildren, Jenna (Jeffrey) O’Donnell, Lucy Young, Emily McCoy, and Hanna McCoy of Maugerville, NB; great-grandchildren Ivan McCoy, Davy McCoy, Roxanne Paquet, Adeline O’Donnell, Aster O’Donnell, and Walter O’Donnell of Maugerville, NB, brother, Phillip Monteith. Joe will also be greatly missed by his brothers-in-law Roger and Guy and sisters-in-law Nicole and Louise.
Joe was a retired veteran from the Canadian Armed Forces in the PPCLI with 25 years served for his country. In his time since retirement, Joe could be found spending his summers at their trailer on the Canaan River alongside many friends who will miss him deeply. Joe was always surrounded by friends, family, and the many four-legged fur babies that he and Yvette rescued from the SPCA. His love and positive outlook on life will be missed by all of us.
In addition to his parents, Joe was predeceased by his son, Cory Monteith; grandson, Christopher McCoy; and his brother, Malcolm.
Joe will forever be remembered by friends and family for his witty sense of humour and love for baseball.
The family would like to sincerely thank the staff of the palliative care unit at the DECH for their outstanding care and compassion over the last few months
A celebration of Joe's life will take place on Wednesday, June 11th, 2025 from 1:00 TO 4:00 PM at the Royal Canadian Legion #93, 284 Restigouche Rd, Oromocto
In lieu of flowers, donations made to Oromocto SPCA would be appreciated by the family. Personal condolences may be made at www.oromoctofh.com.
