Obituary of Patrick George Ward
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Patrick George Ward. He passed away peacefully at home on May 21, 2025.
Pat was born on March 24, 1955, in Fredericton, New Brunswick. Pat is survived by his loving children, Adam Ward, Meghan Cavanagh (Jerome), and Ryan Ward; cherished grandchildren, Makenna and Bronson Cavanagh, and his siblings, Brian, Joan (Charlie), and Mike (Anna). He will be fondly remembered by all his nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his beloved parents, George and Rita Ward and his sister-in-law, Carol Ward.
Patrick was a devoted father, a loved son, brother and Grampy, a skilled electrician, and a lifelong Maritimer. He found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He was known for his quick wit and his endless collection of sayings and dad jokes. He had a knack for making everyone smile- many around him would have heard “Yeah Baby!”, “Your shoe is untied”, “Same thing, just different” or “What could go right?”- with a grin that told you he had more where that came from.
Pat was deeply involved in his kids’ lives. He spent many hours coaching his children’s ball teams, serving as a cub leader and supporting them every step along the way. Pat was passionate about sports, he loved watching and playing hockey, ball, curling or pickleball. He spent countless hours outside, tending to the yard, building or fixing something, playing horseshoes, or having a bonfire. One unforgettable memory is the front yard rink he built - complete with lights so we could skate all night. Over the past few years, he and the dog, Mason, became the farm supervisors and made sure Adam was doing things the right way.
He loved spending time by the water. He would head next door for a quick dip in the pool on those hot summer days or stay in for hours. In recent years he enjoyed Cultus Lake with his grandchildren. He played endlessly with them in the lake and then would ask them “Is the water wet?”.
Pat didn’t need much to be content - just his family, a good laugh and maybe a game on TV. His legendary one-liners will live on through all who knew him, lovingly repeated with a smile and a shake of the head.
He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
A private family gathering will be held to celebrate his life.
