It is with heavy hearts that we had to say goodbye to our father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother. Our mom and dad lived a great life together for 72 years. Dad’s first career was as a coal miner in Sydney Mines, NS. He then joined the military and proudly served his country for 27 years. After retiring from the military, he managed Canex stores in Oromocto, NB, before finally retiring.
He was a proud member of the Black Watch Association and the Knights of Columbus. Dad loved golf and curling.
Dad cared for mom at home for several years until she needed more care. He loved to be with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. He loved them and they loved him back.
The family would like to thank the DECH and the OPH for all the care they gave to our dad. Special thanks to the EMT’s who were always compassionate, kind and understanding.

What happened to this country of ours
The land of the brave and the free
And what happened to our old traditions
Like the kilt wearing RHC
The pipes would lead them in battle
Playing tunes like Bonnie Dundee
Its all part of the glorious tradition
That’s known as the RHC
They wore the kilt when needed
Had pipers to lead them along
Now all of this is finished
Like tradition its passing along
They went off to war like the others
They fought to keep Canada free
Men died to hold up the tradition
That was part of the RHC
The clans of Stewarts and Campbells
MacDougalls, MacDonalds, the best
The pipes no longer will lead them
And their kilts they have all laid to rest
Now that the Watch is over
And the pipers and kilts they are gone
The RHC is disbanded
But their glory still lingers on
