Obituary of Frank I Morrison

The family of Frank Morrison are sad to announce his passing on June 26th, 2025, at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital.  Born on August 30th, 1942, in Fredericton, NB, he was the son of the late Frank I. Morrison Sr. and Mary (Van Wart) Morrison. Affectionately known as “Dubbie” or “Dub” by those who loved him most, he was surrounded by family in his final days.

For 60 years, Frank was a devoted husband to his wife Deanna (Cameron) Morrison, and proud father to Connie Morrison (Neal Bennett), Jim Morrison (Patti) and Janet Currie (Mike). His nine amazing grandchildren, Lauren, Kelsey, Connor, Mackenzie, Brett, Alisa, Claire, Sophie and Kate filled his heart, and nothing entertained him more than hearing about their adventures. Frank also leaves his siblings, Ann Morgan, Mary Lou Grant (Laurie), William “Bill” Morrison (Judith), as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Frank was happiest tinkering in his workshop, fixing or building just about anything with Art Cameron by his side.  He loved to be at the camp - enjoying an early morning coffee and watching the birds, sipping on Diet Coke on the deck, hauling skiers and tubers behind the boat and making memories with his children and grandchildren.  His love of being at the camp was so great that one of his last schemes was to buy a new car and break Mom out of York Care so they could live out their days there together.

Frank had a gift for teaching and never missed an opportunity to pass on his knowledge. His many journals immortalize his words of wisdom. Anyone who knew him is familiar with his trademark phrase: “Come with me.” What followed was never just a task—it was a lesson.

He was a constant presence in the lives of his three children, endlessly driving to every rink, barn or ski hill in the province and beyond. No distance was too far, and no schedule was too tight.  Every lunch was hand packed with love. His support for his kids’ passions evolved into contributions to Fredericton Pony Club, Fredericton Figure Skating Club, and Crabbe Mountain Racing Team.

Frank joined the Royal Canadian Air Force at a young age where his lifelong passion for aviation took flight. He often shared vivid stories from that time, especially about his favorite aircraft—the CT-114 Tutor. After leaving the Airforce, Frank worked over 40 years in the insurance business, running his family’s generational agency, Frank I. Morrison and Sons Insurance. He was a member of the Fredericton Rotary Club and always looked forward to duck hunting, especially opening day with the gang at Foshay Lake.

Visitation will take place on Wednesday, July 2nd, 2025, at McAdam’s Funeral Home from 12 – 2 pm. A Memorial Service will follow in the J.A. McAdam Memorial Chapel at 2 pm, with Rev. Michelle Armstrong officiating. Interment will be held at the Fredericton Rural Extension Cemetery.

Due to construction on Wednesday, the entrance and exit to the Funeral Home will be from Brunswick Street only. Parking will be available at the Brunswick St. Baptist Church as well.
