Obituary of Paula MacDonald

The family of Mary "Paula" Joanne (Duguay) MacDonald sadly announces her sudden and unexpected passing on July 01, 2025, at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital in Fredericton, New Brunswick. She was born on June 30, 1958, to Reginald and Patricia Duguay, in Newcastle, NB.

While childless herself, she loved her many nieces and nephews and was always there for them. She was kind, considerate, well-liked and loved by those who had the good fortune of meeting her and getting to know her.

Paula will be sadly missed by her husband and companion of 45 years, Tom. She will also be sadly missed by her brothers Ricky Duguay (Mary), Elora ON, Reg “Junior” Duguay (Diane), Kingston ON, Carl Duguay, Miramichi, NB, Ernest Duguay (Pam), Kingston ON, Stanley Duguay (Marsha), Burnt Church NB; sisters, Valerie Worrell (Dale), Miramichi, NB, Noreen Duguay (Yvan LeClerc), Montreal QC, Wendy Duguay-Campbell, Miramichi, NB, and Shelley Duguay, Miramichi, NB, as well as her numerous nieces and nephews.

Paula was predeceased by her parents, Reginald Duguay and Patricia “Phee” (Thibodeau) Duguay, as well as her brother, Paul Duguay and infant sister, Anne Marie Duguay.

While her passing was unexpected, the care and compassion exhibited by the dedicated staff in both the ER and the ICU at Chalmers Hospital was greatly appreciated and will never be forgotten by the family.

In keeping with Paula’s wishes, a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. For those who wish, donations in Paula’s memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada, the Diabetes Association, or a charity of the donor’s choice.

The day God took you home, my heart split in two.

One side filled with memories; the other side died with you.

I often lay awake at night when the world is fast asleep.

And take a walk down memory lane with tears upon my cheek.

REMEMBERING you is easy, I do it every day.

But missing you is a heartache that never goes away.

I hold you tightly within my heart and there you will remain.

You see, life has gone on without you but will never be the same.
