Obituary of Robert Bartlett
It is with profound sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Robert “Bob” Bartlett on July 21, 2025, surrounded by his loved ones at Hospice House in Fredericton, NB.
He will be deeply missed by his loving wife of 63 years, Doris (Taylor)Bartlett; daughters, Susan Snook (Sheldon Sproul), Tracy Doiron (Ron); son, Rob (Valerie), and his grandchildren, Adam Snook (Cyrstal), and Breighanna Bartlett. Bob is also survived by his sister, Marguerite Bartlett, Connecticut, USA; brother, Dave Bartlett, St. John’s, NL, and brother-in-law, Ralph Dickey, Halifax, NS.
Bob was predeceased by his parents, Malcom and Mary (Newell) Bartlett; sister and brother-in-law, Joan and Wallace Ingraham, and sister, Judy Dickey.
Bob was born in the pretty little town of Brigus, Newfoundland, on July 13, 1935. Growing up, he excelled at hockey taking the Brigus Bruins to win the championships.
In 1954, Bob joined the Canadian Armed Forces serving 36 years with the Royal Canadian Horse Artillery where he reached the rank of Master Warrant Officer. Over the course of his long career, Bob was posted to Shilo, MB, Petawawa, ON, West Germany, St. John’s, NL, and CFB Gagetown before retiring in Oromocto, NB. During his service he continued being active in hockey, coaching the Gunner’s hockey team to victory 1986/1987 & 1987/1988.
After Bob’s retirement in 1990, he enjoyed golfing, hunting and returning every summer to his beloved home in Brigus, Newfoundland, where he delighted in fishing and telling tales with his good friends, brother, Dave and brother-in-law, Ralph.
We would like to express our deepest gratitude to the doctors, nurses and staff of Hospice House in Fredericton, NB, for the outstanding care and compassion shown to our dad and to the family over the last few weeks. We also send our thanks to Dr. Sainz for her support and advocacy while Dad was in hospital.
At Dad’s request, there will be no visitation or service. For those who wish, donations in Bob’s memory may be made to Hospice House in Fredericton, or a charity of the donor’s choice.
