Obituary of Joan Helen Tower
The family of Joan Tower sadly announces her passing on August 7, 2025, at her home in Paradise Villa. She was born on March 3, 1938, to the late Everett and Margaret Fillmore, in Dorchester, New Brunswick. After graduating from Dorchester High School, she attended Success Business College in Moncton, NB, obtaining a certificate.
Mom loved her Lord and was a member of the Oromocto Baptist Church where she participated in various activities from youth to adult, especially the Women’s Missionary Society (WMS). She was a community volunteer with Meals on Wheels and VON, Oromocto Public Hospital.
She and her husband, Malcolm ‘Bud” Tower were raised and met in Dorchester. During a military career, they lived in Germany (twice), Petawawa and Borden, Ontario, and finally in Oromocto from 1981 on. They both bowled and were active at the Oromocto Baptist Church.
Joan will be sadly missed by her children, Allen Tower (Lucy), Stewart Tower (Nancy), Sandra Tower; grandson, Shane Brown (Sabrina); siblings, Doreen Duncan, Charles Fillmore (Rita), Carol Everitt, Linda Holmes, Stephen Fillmore (Thu’y), and a plethora of nieces, nephews and friends. She was predeceased by her husband, Malcolm “Bud” Tower, parents, and her in-laws, Frank Duncan, Arthur Holmes and Terry Everitt.
We wish to express our gratitude to the staff of Paradise Villa, Mom’s home for the past three years. We are grateful for their attentive care to Mom in these past months.
Visitation will be held at Oromocto Funeral Home on Friday, August 8, 2025, from 6-8 pm. A Funeral Service will take place at Oromocto Baptist Church on Saturday, August 9, 2025, at 10 am, with Rev. Dr. Perry Hanley officiating. For those unable to attend in person, this service will be livestreamed at https://youtube.com/live/tGYQ7FkKStU. Interment will take place at the Dorcherster Rural Cemetery.
