Obituary of Ronald Lyle Kirby, Jr.
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ronald “Ron” Kirby, Jr. on August 23, 2025. Born on June 25, 1957, in St. Catharines, Ontario, he was the son of the late Ronald, Snr. and Elsie Kirby, and the beloved husband of Deborah “Debbie” (Banks) Kirby.
Driving was a passion for Ron. He started his career at Spring Hill Construction, driving the trucks that helped pave the Trans Canada Highway. He continued his hard work with Global Fire Stop, in Bedford, NS, fireproofing. A friend and colleague would travel everyday with Ron to work, and where work needed them to be. Another job of his was with MRDC, Oromocto Depot. He plowed the highways with the big plow truck, ensuring the safety of the roads in the winter. Unfortunately, this was his last job where he could drive. Due to this, he worked as a commissionaire with Base Gagetown. This was his last job.
He was away a lot during his driving career, but always had love for his family. On Saturdays, when they could, the family would get in the car and just drive. Together, they enjoyed the peaceful and relaxing drives.
Ronald will be greatly missed by his wife, Debbie; son, Shawn Kirby (Jenn), grandchildren, Nevaeh, and Ruby; siblings, Ronda (Rick), and John; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Ronald and Elaine Banks; sisters-in-law, Donna Boone (Hazen), and Darlene MacDonald (Derrick), as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude and thanks to the staff of Extra-Mural, Oromocto. Their kindness and assistance made it possible for Ron to be at home with his family.
A gathering to celebrate Ron’s life will be held at the Oromocto Funeral Home on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, from 7 pm - 9 pm.
For those who wish, memorial donations may be made to Oromocto SPCA or Heart and Stroke.
