Sad to hear of Ron's passing. Although our chapter together ended many years ago I have many fond memories during the 80s and 90s of our family time together when Ron and my late mother Sharon were married. I am happy that Ron was able to enjoy another chapter of his life leading up to his passing. Our fishing adventures, chess games and his ridealongs in my police cruiser will be missed. Rest in peace old friend. Tim Sowers

My deep sympathes to Eilidh Mòrag and family as they grieve the loss of this fine man. I had never met Ron, but I saw him, or bits of him, in Gaelic videos and I admired the steadfast way he supported Eilidh Mòrag in her unique activities. From the beautifully-written obituary, I know that I would have liked Ron, had I the chance to know him. May fond memories and strength from family and friends support you during this difficult time.

If you are lucky, there are some people you click with immediately and forever. Ron was one of them. We met in first year at UNB, and although our careers and lives took us in different directions for several decades, when we reconnected - through my wife's good friend Helen MacKinnon - it was like those years apart had never happened. I was fortunate to share Ron's love of music, and he in turn shared my passion for car racing. I will miss his smile and his puns. Rock on, Ron!!

The Gaidhlig brings people together! Early in the 2000s I was in a Saturday morning Gaelic class with Eilidh Morag MacFhiongain (known to the Sassanach as 'Helen MacKinnon'). Ron and I were working in the same Service NB office at the time. In casual conversation one day, Ron expressed an interest in learning Irish. I said that I wasn't aware of any local Irish lessons, but that I was quite happy with the Scottish Gaelic lessons I was getting from Helen. When lessons resumed in September, there was Ron in the class. Not many months later, say, November, it was becoming obvious that Ron and Helen were an 'item'. Maybe they knew each other from before, but I think they might have really discovered each other in Gaelic class. Probably their huge mutual interest in music sealed the deal. But I'd say the the Gaelic got it started! - Crisdean Robbinsach, aka Chris Robbins

When I first met Ron is when I was an employee of the then called Corporate Affairs Branch under the umbrella of Service New Brunswick. When I was part of our Social Committee one year I decided to build up my confidence and organize a little entertainment session by singing a few songs during our departmental Christmas gathering. I sent out a mass email throughout each office describing my idea and asked if anyone who can play guitar would be interested in accompanying me. Well, in no time at all Ron was the first one to reply back to me. We immediately started to meet to organize and practice this little soirée. I was delighted and thrilled working out our little debut together.
Some years later we crossed paths again at the old Oromocto Legion when my son’s then girlfriend was Irish dancing with her group. Ron saw me and he introduced me to the Linthutine group he was with. That night Ron and this lovely group invited me to join them which I was delighted to do so. To this day I am still with this wonderful group which I call my Linthutine family.
Ron was an amazing person with a heart of gold and a great sense of humour. I will keep his memory in my heart for ever.
My thoughts and prayers are asking God to give Helen and family strength and courage and heal their hearts
of pain and sorrow throughout their journey.
