Obituary of Carter Joshua Gilliatt
Carter Joshua Gilliatt, 41 passed away at his residence unexpectedly.
Born in Fredericton on September 16, 1984, Carter was the beloved son of James Gilliatt and the late Hazel Haneveld. Carter has been a lifelong resident of the Oromocto First Nations Community.
Carter is also predeceased by his grandparents, Gary and Pat, Vincent and Grace Sacobie, and aunts, Michelle Gilliatt, and Karen Pugh.
Carter is survived by his brother, Jesse (Melanie), Harvey, NB; sisters, Susan, Oromocto, NB, Jennifer, Toronto, Sandra, Toronto, ON and Angela, Red Deer, AB. He is also survived by several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was a seasonal landscaper for the Oromocto First Nation Community for several years.
He was known for his huge heart and love for bicycling. The love Carter had for his community and family can not be put into words, and he also had a love for his dog, Prince and his new dog, Harley.
Visitation will be held at 10 Wel-a-Mook-Took Street, Oromocto First Nation, Friday September 19, 2025 after 7 pm, as well as all day Saturday and Sunday. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church on Monday, September 22, 2025 at 11:00 am with Father Callistus Abazie as celebrant with the burial to follow.
