Obituary of John Thomas Gillam
It is with heavy hearts that the family of John Thomas Gillam announces his passing on October 12, 2025 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital in Fredericton, New Brunswick. John was born on December 18, 1952 to the late Matthew and Ida (Anderson) Gillam in Port aux Basques, NL.
John had a long career working for the town of Oromocto for many years which he started in 1973 and retired the first time in 2010. In 2011 he had started part-time working for Soldiers Arena and then back working for the town of Oromocto working part time at Kings Arrow Arena. He also worked part time for the Atlantic Superstore in the seafood and meat departments. John a was the Fire Arm and Safety Instructor for Oromocto. He loved to spend time in nature, hunting, fishing, camping and tying his own flies, as well as playing darts and baseball.
He will be missed by his family; his wife, Emma (LeBlanc); children, Terri Harrison (Derrick), Lincoln, Mike LeBlanc (Samantha), Lincoln, Matthew Gillam (Genny), Burton and Annie Gillam (Alfred), Oromocto; grandchildren, John (Madison), Kaleigh, Madyson, Cody (Jenna), Jacob, Makayla (Mia), Savannah, Dylan, Alley (Thomas), Brooke, Summer, Jaxson, Destani, Lauren and Brenden; and one great grandson, Elliott; sister, Karen Gillam, QC; many cousins, nephews and nieces.
Besides his parents he was predeceased by his brother, Gordon Gillam and sister, Lillian Currie (Jim).
There will be visitation from 11 am – 1 pm on Thursday, October 16, 2025 with a “Celebration of Life” beginning at 4:00 pm, all events are taking place at Oromocto Funeral Home at 108 Winnebago Street, Oromocto.
