Obituary of Joseph Orial Howe

It is with profound sadness that the family of Joseph Orial Howe, affectionately known as Joe or Papa Howe, announces his passing peacefully at home on November 9, 2025, at the age of 78.

Born on September 29, 1947, Joe was a lifelong resident of Geary, New Brunswick, where he built a life centered on family, friendship, and the outdoors. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who took immense pride in his family and the simple joys of country living.

In his younger years, Joe loved snowmobiling, four-wheeling, and long drives through the woods. He had a deep appreciation for nature and an even deeper love for gathering with family. Nothing made him happier than seeing his loved ones together—especially when his grandchildren and great-grandchildren came to visit. Joe also had a special place in his heart for animals—his great-grand puppies Axle, Rue, Harvey, and Diesel were always greeted with treats and affection.

Joe will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 55 years, Brenda; his daughters, Lisa (Doug) and Jennifer (John); and his cherished grandchildren, Emily (Nathan), Ashleigh (Patrick), Bradley (Emily), Bentley (Holly), and Natalie (Braydon). He also leaves behind three great-grandchildren, Owen, Levi, and Brya, and was eagerly awaiting the arrival of a new great-grandson in December. Joe will also be fondly remembered by his brother, Vincent (Rilla); sister in law, Andrea (Angelo); uncle, aunt, nephews, nieces, and cousins, as well as many extended family members and friends who will miss him dearly.

He was predeceased by his parents, Orial and Margaret Howe, and his sister, Little Margaret.

As per Joe’s wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral service. A private burial will take place at a later date with close family.

For those who wish, to donate in Joe’s memory, may be made to the Fredericton Dialysis Unit or Diabetes Canada.
