Obituary of Todd Hill
It is with profound sadness that the family of William “Todd” Hill announce his passing at the age of 57 on November 10th, 2025. Todd passed peacefully at Hospice House in Fredericton, New Brunswick, surrounded by loved ones, after a courageous five-year fight with cancer.
He is survived by his wife, Jennifer (nee Creese); two sons, James (Katie) and John (Aryn); three sisters, Kim Murphy (Bill), Sharon Kiley-Antonew (Peter), and Dale Fraser (Gary); two stepdaughters, Cassandra and Jacqueline, and several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his brother, Robert John “Bobby” Hill; his father, William Robert “Bob” Hill, and his mother, Jessie Louisa “Lou” Hill.
Todd was born on December 25th, 1967, in Oromocto, New Brunswick. He followed in the footsteps of his father and joined the Canadian Armed Forces in 1987 at the age of 19, first as an Instrument and Electrical Systems Technician. After training in Ontario, Todd was stationed at CFB Shearwater, NS, where he worked as an aviation technician on CH124 Sea King Maritime Helicopters until 1999. Todd then obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree from St. Mary’s University in Halifax, NS, through the military’s training Plan for Non-Commissioned Members, and graduated Summa Cum Laude in 2001. After graduation, Todd was commissioned in the rank of 2nd Lieutenant and earned his Air Navigator Wings in Winnipeg, MB, before being transferred back to Shearwater. He once again worked on Sea King Helicopters, this time as a Tactical Officer. Todd was extremely grateful for the opportunities and experiences the Canadian Armed Forces provided for him and his family. After 29 years of service, at the rank of Captain, he completed his career in 2017. He spent his final 5 years in uniform recruiting for Canada’s military future.
Todd met his partner of nearly 20 years, Jennifer, on November 10th, 2007, and they eventually married on November 22nd, 2023, at their home in Oromocto. They spent two decades travelling across the world together and have fond memories driving along the Pacific highway in California (Napa, Yosemite, and San Diego), spending spring vacations in the Dominican Republic, sightseeing in Rome, touring southern Italy, the Greek Islands, cruising along the Danube and the Rhine, and so much more. Closer to home, they enjoyed many concerts together, including Pink Floyd tribute bands, and watching the Red Sox play at Fenway Park.
Todd was an avid curler for 40 years, participating competitively since high school, and in his later years he organized many honorary and charitable events at his local curling club, Gage Golf and Curling Club. After retirement, Todd spent his time golfing nearly every day during the summer, where he loved spending hours on the course with Malcolm, Ron, Ken, and Bill.
Everyone who knew Todd knew that family was the driving force of his life. Nothing was more important to him. He spent time with his mother every day before her passing and took great pride and joy in teaching valuable life lessons to his two sons. Of all the roles he had, being a father was most precious to him. He loved watching his boys play sports growing up, instilled in them strong work ethic and values, and shared many fond memories with them over the years. Family gatherings were tradition in the Hill household, and Todd never missed an opportunity to spend time with his loved ones, especially during the holidays. His kindness and generosity had a profound impact on all those around him.
A loving husband, father, soon-to-be-grandfather, brother, and friend, Todd will be deeply missed by all those who had the privilege of knowing him.
The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to all the staff at the palliative unit, at Hospice House, and to those who provided extramural care and comfort to him and his family throughout the years.
A private memorial service will be held at the Oromocto Funeral Home Chapel. Friends and family are invited to a Celebration of Todd’s Life, which will be held at the Oromocto Legion on Monday, November 17, 2025, beginning at 1:00p.m. with a tribute by the Oromocto Legion. A private burial will take place in the Oromocto Pioneer Gardens at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations to Fredericton Hospice House or the Palliative Care Unit at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital would be greatly appreciated.
