Obituary of Elvira "Vi" Allan
It is with sadness that the family of L. Elvira Mae Allan announces her passing at Oromocto Public Hospital on Wednesday, November 19, 2025 at the age of 95. Born in St. Martins, NB, on December 25, 1929, she was the wife of the late Stuart James Allan.
Vi leaves behind her sons, Stuart Allan (Leslie) of Saint John, and Merle Allan (May) of Winnipeg Beach, MB; sisters, Mable Richards and Joy Collins; grandchildren, Michelle (Jeff), Kimberly (Craig), Merle (Jamie), Stephanie, Holly (Andrew), Rebecca (Mike), Caitlin (Jason), Matthew (Joanne), Peter (Lindsay), Gaven, and Garisen, as well as many great and great-great grandchildren. In addition to her husband, Stuart, Vi was predeceased by her parents, Hazen and Alvina Burnside; daughters, Wilma Lee Tibbetts and Sandra Allan; brothers, Arthur, James, and David; sisters, Ruth Burnside, Helen Allan, and Florance Marr; great grandson, Logan; daughter-in-law Nancy.
Vi loved spending time with the love of her life, Stuart. They enjoyed travelling together, the highlight being a surprise trip to Hawaii. Family were never far from Vi’s mind, who was also known as Nanny. She loved making cookies, playing checkers, pulling pranks and watching sports, especially with her grandson Ben. She knew all her grandchildren, and great grandchildren, and loved them dearly. She loved to do special shopping trips with them all and send them birthday cards every year. Vi and family were faithful attendees and participating Christians at Saint John’s Anglican Church in Oromocto.
Thank you to Kindred Home Care for providing care for Vi, especially to Emily McNeil, who went above and beyond to make Vi’s last months carefree and happy. Her love and care for our mother and grandmother was a great comfort to our family.
A private, family graveside service will take place. For those who wish, donations in Vi’s memory may be made to Saint John’s Anglican Church in Oromocto, Oromocto SPCA, Oromocto and Area Foodbank or a charity of the donor’s choice.
