Obituary of Gaylia Darlene Eleanor Holt

It is with great sadness that our family announces the passing of Gaylia Darlene Eleanor Holt of Geary, New Brunswick, on January 9, 2026, at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital in Fredericton. She was born on May 26, 1956, to Orville and Cleta Grasse.

Gaylia worked briefly outside the home as a chambermaid at the Fredericton Inn, but most of her life was as a stay-at-home mum. You could always count on having a fun game of cards with her, she loved traveling with her husband, Cecil, to the camp they owned at Pelatoma Lake. There you would find them out for 4-wheeling trips & always playing cards. If you know, you know the many fun times had by all who visited.

Gaylia is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, Cecil Holt; two daughters, Tabetha Carr (Chris), Michelle Meisner (Braden); son, Terry Holt (Tracy); grandchildren, Shantal Carr (Darren), Bradley Carr (Haley), Haley Holt (Bradon), Chandler Brown (Noelle), Hunter Brown (Kiara); great-grandchildren, Brooklyn, Ariana, Gage, Liam, Avery, Bentleigh, and Kayson, and siblings, Eveleen Holt (Larry), Sheldon Grasse (Claudia), and Marty Grasse (Lana).

In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her grandson, Corey Holt.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, from 12 – 2pm at the Oromocto Funeral in Oromocto, NB. A funeral service will follow the visitation, beginning at 2 pm, with Pastor Lloyd Taylor officiating. Interment will take place at the Preston Carr Cemetery after the service. For those who wish, memorial donations may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
