Obituary of Judith Merritt

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Judith “Judy” Merritt of Oromocto, New Brunswick, which occurred on January 13th, 2026.

Judy was born October 18th, 1946 in Saint John, New Brunswick. She was the daughter of the late Manford and Wynona (Jones) Merritt, and sister to the late Marlene Tibbs.

She loved animals, especially any dogs around, and they all loved her back. She was a renowned fan of Elvis and could be heard listening to his music in any space she occupied.

Judy is survived by her niece, Mindy Lauzon (Ernie) of Guelph, Ontario; nephew, Robert Collet (Mary) of Anagance, New Brunswick, and great-nieces and -nephews, Andrea, Jordan, Sage, Sequoia, and Nashira.

In keeping with Judy’s wishes, she will be cremated and a private service will be held in her honour. She will be reunited with her parents in the Burton Cemetery at a later date. For those who wish, memorial donations may be made to the Oromocto SPCA.
