Obituary of Joseph Bernard Evans
Joseph "Joe" Bernard Evans, born in St. John's NL, April 1939, passed away peacefully at the Veterans Health Unit (VHU) in Fredericton, on February 8, 2026. A proud Canadian Army veteran, Joe served his country with distinction for 38 years. During his military career, he was a dedicated member of the Black Watch Band, where he proudly served as a drummer--combining discipline, service, and a deep love of music and camaraderie.
Beyond his military service, Joe was deeply committed to his community. He served the Town of Oromocto for 11 years as a member of Town Council, including time as Councillor and Deputy Mayor, earning the respect of colleagues and residents alike through his steady leadership and devotion to public service.
Joe is predeceased by his beloved wife, Dorothy Evans (Hatfield) and his son, Richard Michael Evans, of Kingston, ON.
He is survived by his son, David (Bonnie) and their two children, Jonah and Kelsi, and Joe's son, Terry.
He will be fondly remembered by his family, friends, fellow veterans, and the many community members whose lives he touched. Joe's lifelong dedication to service--both in uniform and in civic life--leaves a lasting legacy of integrity, commitment, and love of country.

A committal service will take place at a later date in Argyle Head, NS.
