Obituary of Valerie Jean Penney

Valerie Jean Penney, born November 30, 1963 in Sydney, Nova Scotia, has passed away. She took her last beautiful breath on March 19, 2026 in Fredericton, New Brunswick, after a long hard fight with heart disease. She was surrounded by her family as she passed.

Valerie was a loving woman who lived life to the fullest. Once she set her mind to something, there was little anyone could do to dissuade her. She loved her family and friends deeply and will be greatly missed by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her.

She is survived by her loving husband, George Smith; daughter, Christina Lynch; siblings, Michael (Bill), Anne, and Raylene Penney; grandchildren, Shyann Dupe-Sparks, Anna Dupe, Mikayla Lynch, and Andrew Lynch; great-grandchildren, Jayden and Seraphina Sparks; nieces, Terry Jo Penney and Christa Appleby; close friend, Brian Malcolm, as well as many other extended family and friends.

In addition to her parents, Michael Penney and Josephine Collins, Valerie was preceded in death by her sister,Terry; brother, Colin, and her granddaughter, Isla Dupe Lynch.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, March 26, 2026 from 4:00-7:00pm at the Oromocto Funeral Home in Oromocto, NB. In lieu of flowers it is kindly asked that donations be made to the Oromocto SPCA or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
