Obituary of Joseph Francis "Raymond" Gahan
Raymond Gahan of Burton peacefully passed away at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital on Thursday, April 23rd, 2026, after a courageous battle against complications arising from Diabetes.
Raymond was known to all as a gentle giant and much loved ‘Bompie’ to his cherished grandchildren. Married to Sandra (Carr) Gahan for 36 years, they enjoyed their blended family and ever-expanding circle of friends.
Raymond is predeceased by his parents, Mark and Katherine (Williston); brothers, Joseph, John (Grace), Ranald (Gladys), Irven (Dorothy), Thomas (Shirley), Charlie (Opal) and sisters, Dorothy (Raymond) Burrell, Katherine (Gerald) Cormier, Kelsie (Morton) Carr. Raymond is survived by his loving wife, Sandra (Carr); his sons, Stuart (Bonnie) Gahan, Carl (Carla) Gahan, Darren (LaVonna) Anderson, Jeremy (Natalie Flowers) Anderson, and Sarah Anderson; grandchildren, Lindsay, Samantha (Evan), Mackenzie, Ashley (Stefan), Jesse (Emma), Austin (Allison), Joshua (Miazie), Kaiya, Kamryn, Kovan, Sydney, Brandon, Sawyer, Elliott; great-grandchildren, Harper, Wren, Ashton, Edith, Adalyn and Amelia. Raymond is also survived by his brother, Harold (Annie) and many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.
For many years, Raymond drove heavy equipment and long-haul tractor trailers. He was part of Gahan Brothers Trucking, a business he shared with his brothers, and he also drove for Sunbury Trucking and hauled wood with his boys. Recent years saw him keeping retirement at bay as he enjoyed operating heavy equipment for his nephew Paul.
Raymond never said no to a cup of coffee or hearing the latest joke. He had endless patience, a calm demeanor and had all the time in the world for his grands and greats. Raymond leaves behind his “guard dog”, Peanut and a hole in all of our hearts.
A special and heartfelt thanks is extended to the doctors, nurses and staff on 4 South West for their compassionate care over the last weeks.
A celebration of life for Raymond will take place on Wednesday, May 6th, 2026 at 2:00 pm at the Geary Baptist Church.
