To Elaine and family, I am so sorry for your great loss. Ed was a very dear friend, we worked together in Baden Solingen for several years. Over that time we drank a lot of beers together in the Ambassador Lounge on Friday nights, while singing Country and old Rock and Roll tunes. Ed was an expert on old Rock and doo-wop tunes, we would come up with the most obscure tunes to test Ed's knowledge of who the singer was...don't think we ever stumped him. Yes Ed was a quite gentleman but had a wicked sense of humor, playing tricks on fellow military buddies was one of his favorite things to do, My memories of sharing those times with Ed and our other close buddies brings a smile to my face. The news of his passing leaves me with great sadness but also makes me smile knowing that he was my friend and re-kindles a lot of wonderful memories for me about the wonderful times we shared. God speed Ed on his final journey. Per ardua ad astra.

Well my Friend & former room mate at CFB Rockcliffe, you have come to the end of the road and the sun has set for you, I know that you want no rites in a gloom filled room. Why cry for a soul set free? Family and Friends, miss you but not with heads bowed low. We will remember the love & good times that once we shared. We will miss you, but let you go with country music playing loud in memory, for this is a journey we all must take and each of us must go alone. It’s all part of the master plan, a step on the road to home. When we are lonely and sick at heart, we will go to the friends we know & we will remember YOU & all of the good times & things we did together... It's time to let YOU go... ROOM ATTENTION!!! I'll see you on the other side...

Ed, you were such a special man ! It was an absolute pleasure to meet you and your family, your presence will be missed by many. I listened to “the gambler” after hearing of your passing and I’ll continue to think of you every time I hear it. Cheers, I know your partying hard in a kitchen with good music and a few drinks, you will be missed ❤️ ( I think I need a shot of PJS)
Sending my deepest condolences to the Kent family, Elaine, Jennifer, Evelyn and Austin ❤️

My heartfelt and sincere condolences to Elaine and all of his precious family. He was a family and people first kind of man and that always shone through.
I have great memories of my time working with Ed. I was so fortunate to have him as a manager, and I always knew what a treasure he was!
One of my favourite memories is from an after work party at a local hangout. Ed, who was my manager, came bopping along looking for people to get up on the dance floor. He said, “C’mon Joyce’, but I wasn’t one to get up and dance. He persisted. So, I jokingly said “ok, I’ll do it on one condition, Ed - if you can get them to play AC/DCs thunderstruck, I’ll get up there with you.” He didn’t look impressed about my choice. So, away he went and I thought I was safe from the dance floor.
Sure enough, a short time later, very proud of himself, Ed came back grinning. He said “let’s go, they are going to play it”. The look on my face. So, I held my end of the deal. I said, “ok now, promise me, you’ll stick it out and not ditch me.” He promised.
Always the joker, my mischievous side kicked in…I had not been drinking…about a minute in of normal dancing, I started dancing pretty crazy (it was not the mild mannered girl that he would expect). I have lonnnnng hair, and I was swinging it wildly, arms flailing. I was even playing an imaginary electric guitar. Omgoodness, his face … poor Ed started to leave the dance floor. He tried a couple of times to leave, but I’d always pull him back. By the end of it, I had dropped to my knees playing my electric guitar, swinging my hair and thrashing my head like a crazy rockstar…poor, sweet Ed stayed the whole song. God love and bless Ed - he truly was the best.
Rest in Peace, Ed. I’m so grateful to have known you. If Thunderstruck ever plays up there, I hope you will save that dance for me!

For 31 years I was fortunate enough to call Ed a friend and enjoy his company. Family was always his first priority and friends a close second. Over the years I had many meals with Ed & Elaine which always included a coffee crisp bar from Ed - thanks pal. Kitchen parties - there were many - trips here and there - card games oh yeah - a few drinks - okay maybe more than a few - and always the best music. Your quick wit and company will be sorely missed. Condolences to the Family on your loss.
