Obituary of Charles Kent

Charles “Edward” Kent, 84, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a lifetime of love, laughter, and music. After serving his country in the military and later working with Frontec/Nasittuq, it was the simple pleasures that meant the most to him: an amber rum and coke (or a few) , a good laugh, and definitely music from the 40s to the 70s played at full blast with friends and family.

Ed was a quiet man with a thoughtful, expressive side and a famously dry sense of humour that often arrived at just the right moment. He was a man of deep integrity, steady in his values and generous with his heart.

He was predeceased by his parents, Sam and Margaret (Brown) and by his siblings John, Charlotte, and Dave.

Ed leaves behind the love of his life for 39 years, Elaine — his off‑key backup singer when the music got going. He is survived by his daughters Julie and Jennifer; his grandchildren Taylor, Austin, and Evelyn; and many nieces, nephews, and in‑laws.

A natural athlete and lover of sports — especially baseball — Ed played everything with fierce commitment, whether it was a ball game, a hand of cards, or his favourite event of all: a great kitchen party. His wit and perfectly timed one‑liners made every moment brighter(and caused a few eye rolls).

As per Ed’s wishes, there will not be a service. “When the moment feels right, play some sounds and raise a glass, sing loud!

He leaves behind a legacy of laughter, music, and the kind of love that stays with you long after the room grows quiet.

Shout out to the amazing “on earth” angels at Oromocto Extramural and Fredericton Hospice. For those who wish, memorial donations may be made to Fredericton Hospice.
