Obituary of Franklin Anthony Garvin

The family of the late Franklin Anthony "Tony" Garvin, wish to announce his peaceful passing after a brief illness at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital on Monday May 18, 2026.

Tony was 68, born on June 29, 1957 in Saint John, NB, and was the oldest son of the late Robert (Bob) and Joan (Quigley) Garvin. He grew up in the South End and was a graduate of Simond's High School and the New Brunswick Community College.

Following his graduation from NBCC Tony worked at Vince’s Esso where he met the love of his life, Debbie. In 1985, he accepted a position with NBTel (Bell) and relocated he and his young family to Oromocto retiring in 2015.

He will be greatly missed by his wife, Debbie (Ervin) Garvin; his daughter, whom he adored, Niki Reynolds; and his two grandchildren, Cole Garvin and Graciana Reynolds. In addition, Tony is survived by his two siblings, Darlene (Shane) Armstrong (Olivia & Carter) of Concord, North Carolina and Robert (Bobby) (Carolyn) Garvin (Ben & Jacob) of Saint John; his kitten, Dusty and so many dear friends.

Over the years, Tony’s happiest days were spent as a child at the camp in Willow Grove or sitting in a duck blind with his Dad and Bobby, and in his adult years on the Saint John River, Speedway 660, Miramichi Dragway, or spending time at their trailer wherever it was parked.

Tony was a humble man, who was always willing to help a friend in need. He could often be found tinkering in a garage, playing crib or on the phone strategizing motor, generator or racing related issues.

The family wishes to thank the caring staff of the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital who cared for Tony these past two weeks as well as friends and neighbours who offered support and assistance during this difficult time. Their kindness will never be forgotten.

As expressions of sympathy, donations can be made to the Kidney Foundation, Liver Canada or to a memorial of one’s choice.

A Celebration of Tony's Life will be held Monday, June 22, 2026 at the Oromocto Funeral Home. Visitation will take place from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm with a service to follow.
