Obituary of Albert A. Woodfine

We, the family, are broken-hearted to announce the passing of Albert A. Woodfine “Woody” of Geary, New Brunswick, a husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. After a short battle with cancer, Woody passed away peacefully, with his daughters by his side, on June 22, 2026.

Woody was born in 1954 in North Sydney, Nova Scotia.  He was the son of the late Margaret (nee Bryan) and Augustine Woodfine.

Woody had a fulfilling career with the Canadian Armed Forces that took him all over the world, including Cypress, Germany and Egypt.  Woody made many friends throughout his career that would last a lifetime. He retired at the rank of Sergeant. Beyond work, Woody was happiest with a guitar in his hand and a song on his lips.  He enjoyed camping and fishing and had a deep love of animals.  He will be fondly remembered for his Elvis impersonations and singing around campfires.

He is survived by his loving wife, Linda; his daughters, Denise Power (Joey) and Patsie Woodfine (Jason Whitty); and his seven (7) grandchildren, Jordan (Emily), Peyton, Owen (Darryl), Abbi, Jayla, Brody and Delly.  He is also survived by his sisters, Marilyn, Judy and Glynis.

Besides his parents, he is predeceased by his sister, Peggy and brothers, Bryan, Bruce and Terry and baby brother Martin in infancy.

We would like to thank the staff of 4SE and 3E of the Dr Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital (DECH) Fredericton for the outstanding care they gave our father during the last weeks of his life.

We would also like to thank his best friends, Ron, Tom, Jerry and SA for everything they have done.  There are no words for how thankful we are that he had such amazing friends in his life.

Ron, you went above and beyond for him and for us and we will never forget that.  Thank-you from the bottom of hearts.

There will be a celebration of life for Woody on Saturday June 27, 2026, at the Oromocto Royal Canadian Legion #93 from 2 – 4 pm.  The service will start at 2 pm. Please join Linda and his family as they raise a glass to honour Woody.

After the service, Woody’s daughters will transport his ashes to Cape Breton, as per his wishes, and a celebration of life will be planned in Cape Breton at a later date.
