Obituary of Clarence Melvin Atwin

The family of Elder Clarence “Timer” Melvin Atwin sadly announces he passed away on June 26, 2026, at Maple Ridge Nursing Home inn Oromocto, New Brunswick. He was born on January 10, 1929, to Peter and Louise Atwin, in Oromocto.

Timer worked on CFB Gagetown for many years as a plumber.

An avid sportsman from young age and past retirement, he loved hunting, fishing, and trapping. In his younger years he liked to play baseball and was known for his wicked curveball. He was a big fan of watching wrestling, old western movies, and watching and feeding the birds and squirrels that came around his house. He loved spending time with family, and having family feasts. Timer also enjoyed going for nice drives and having cookouts.

He will be sadly missed by his grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, his God-daughter Tiara, as well as his old trapping buddy Blair McKay.

He was predeceased by his daughter, Rebecca; longtime partner, Janie ‘Dolly’ Sabattis; brother-in-law, Everett, and siblings Viola, Annie, Christina, Elizabeth (Toyo), John, Everett, and a brother that died as an infant.

The family would like to give a special thanks to the staff at the Maple Ridge Enhanced Living Nursing Home.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, June 29, 2026, beginning at 2:00pm at the St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Oromocto, NB, with Fr. Callistus Abazie officiating. He will be laid to rest in the St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Cemetery at a later date. For those who wish, memorial donations may be made to Oromocto SPCA or a charity of the donor’s choice.
