Obituary of Andrew William MacIntosh

It is with deepest sorrow that the family of Andrew “Andy” William MacIntosh announces his passing on June 30, 2026 at the Maple Ridge Nursing Home in Oromocto, New Brunswick, in his 80^th year. Born in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia on November 6, 1946, he was the son of Joseph and Bertha (Moran) MacIntosh.

Andy was a truly beloved son, brother, and friend to anyone who knew him. He spent the last 20+ years of his life caring for his father, mother, and finally his sister, Clare. He was a kind, giving, loving, caring man who devoted himself to the service of his family and friends. He was a true friend; someone you could call on if you needed anything and he would always lend a helping hand. His selfless nature will never be forgotten.

A Merchant Marine by trade, Andy worked as a Helmsman and Second Mate on commercial trade ships traversing the Great Lakes. Over the course of an extraordinary career spanning 35 years, he accrued a seemingly endless list of fascinating stories.

Andy will be dearly missed by his sisters, Lorna MacIntosh, Nancy Cameron (Ralph Trepanier), Kathy MacIntosh; brother, Tom MacIntosh (Maria Fernandez); nieces and nephews, Robbie, Taylor, Joe, Nina, Zoe, Chris, and Julia, as well as his great-nephews and -niece, Archie, August and Iyah.

The family wishes to express sincere thanks to the doctors, nurses, and staff at Maple Ridge Nursing Home for their care and compassion during his final years.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at the St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Oromocto, NB on Monday, July 6, 2026, beginning at 2:00 pm, with Fr. Callistus Abazie officiating. Andy will be laid to rest beside his sister, Clare, in the St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Cemetery immediately following the service. For those who wish, memorial donations may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
