Obituary of Gail Shirley Johnson

The family of Gail Shirley Johnson sadly announces her passing on July 20, 2026 at her home.  Born on February 21, 1948 in Sackville, NB, she was the daughter of the late Andrew and Jean (Wood) Thomson. 

Gail graduated from Port Elgin Regional School.  She worked for Service Canada.  She loved her family and friends dearly, and enjoyed chatting with them often.  In later years she enjoyed playing her games, candy crush and cookie jam. Gail loved to travel with her travel group and made many memories with them.   She had a positive, loving and supportive nature that drew people to her and will be missed by all who knew her.  

Surviving is her husband, Karl; daughter, Tanya (Christopher) DeCoste; grandchildren, Jarod DeCoste, Megan DeCoste, Mike Johnson and Brittney Johnson; sisters, Donna (Colin) Allen; Jean (Bob) Chapman and, Nancy (Dan) McKay; brother, Earl (Dorthy) Thomson; aunt, Shirley Graham; as well as many nieces, nephews, and grand nieces and nephews.  Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her son, Dale. 

A graveside service will take place on Friday, July 24, 2026 at 11 am, in the Oromocto Pioneer Gardens.  For those who wish, donations in Gail’s memory may be made to the Oromocto United Church.
