Obituary of Carl Charles Wilkinson

It is with sadness that the family of Carl Wilkinson announces his passing at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital on Sunday, August 9, 2026, at the age of 88. Born in Fredericton on February 9, 1938, he was the husband of Anna Wilson-Wilkinson of Maugerville.

Carl leaves behind his sons, Bob (Beth), Tom (Beth), Dan (Katie) and Derrick; daughters, Megan and Jennifer (Pat); stepchildren, Jeff (Joy), Eric and Stephen; brother, Edison (Dorothy) and sister, Pat; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. Carl was predeceased by his parents, George and Mae (Monroe) Wilkinson; first wife, Myrna and second wife, Kathleen; children, Allison, Kevin and Lori; granddaughter, Kailey; brother, Ted, and sisters, Rose, Peggy and Doris.

Carl was a proud member of the Black Watch, having served in the Canadian Armed Forces for 6 years. Following his retirement from the military, his love of driving became a new career path. He was a driver with SMT Bus for 14 years followed by another 25 years as a bus driver for the City of Fredericton. It was a career he truly enjoyed. His pride and joys were his 1957 Harley Davidson as well as his 1959 Cadillac.

Carl loved living in Maugerville and watched the community grow from his house along the Saint John River. He also really loved children and his many grandchildren and great grandchildren gave him much joy.

Visitation will be held at Oromocto Funeral Home on Thursday, August 13, from 6:00 – 8:30 pm. The interment will take place in Maugerville Baptist Cemetery on Friday, August 14, 2026, at 11 am, officiated by Pastor Michael Orser. For those who wish, donations in Carl’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer Society.
