Obituary of Gordon Ernest Burke

It is with deep sadness that we announce the unexpected death of Gordon Burke of Rusagonis, NB, at the age of 81.

Born in Bath, NB on August 16, 1945, he was raised in Centreville and graduated from Presque Isle High School. He studied mechanical drafting in Newark, NJ before returning to Canada permanently. He employed his drafting skills at the Research Station in Fredericton, and then completed his work life creatively as a civilian employee at CFB Gagetown.

Gordon was predeceased by his parents, John and Andrina Burke and two brothers, Patrick and Rick Burke. He is survived by his sister, Gabrielle (Gib) Anderson (Bob); sisters-in-law, Audrey Weeks and Judy Burke as well as several nieces and nephews.

He also leaves behind his wife of 53 years, Rose (Smith) Burke; stepson, Dave MacDonald and grandchildren, Oliver and Edie-Rose.

Rose shared his passion for recreational scuba diving and Scouting. He has now “gone home”.

At Gordon’s request, there will be no visitation or funeral. A Celebration of Life will  be held at the Rusagonis Rec. Centre, 1609 Post Road, Rusagonis, NB, on Saturday, September 26th,  from 2:00 -4:00 pm. Donations in Gordon’s name may be made to the Heart and Stroke foundation, or to a charity of your choosing.
