Lori Barton acquires ownership stake

We are delighted to announce that our Managing Director Lori Barton has become a shareholder in the business. 

Now in her 25th year with McAdam’s and Oromocto Funeral Homes, Lori, a native of Newfoundland & Labrador, joined the firm as an apprentice funeral director in 2000. Rising through the ranks, and serving hundreds of families along the way, she has played a key role in the growth and development of the business and, appointed Managing Director in 2024, now leads the service team overseeing day-to-day operations.

McAdam's President Andrew Perry made the announcement saying it represents the initial stage of a succession plan to secure the future of the company for both customers and employees. “From the beginning Lori has been a contributor to our business; compassionate, attentive to detail and a leader.  And now, her knowledge and experience make her the ideal candidate to steward McAdam’s next chapter.  Our company has a proud legacy of new leadership emerging from within and we are thrilled to see that continue."

While there will be little immediate change in management roles, Lori has begun to take on some ownership responsibilities in preparation for a seamless future transition as Andrew moves toward retirement. She will continue to manage operations while he will carry on in his capacity as President, guiding the overall direction of the company and strategic planning for the future. The two will also work together to advance the new shareholder’s skills in management of the overall business.

Executive Director Theresa Barton continues to oversee associated services in pre-need, aftercare and administrative support. All three will continue to function as Licensed Funeral Directors, as needed, in support of the broader team.

By design, the community will not experience any change in service or in the team they meet at the funeral home. “This is a process of planning ahead to ensure that the company evolves without unnecessary disruption to our customers or our team, now and in the future."

McAdam’s Funeral Home Ltd. operates the McAdam’s location on York Street in Fredericton as well as the Oromocto Funeral Home and the online service Modern Celebrations & Cremations. Serving the Fredericton region since 1899, the company has been locally owned and operated throughout its history.
