Obituary of George Lafrance

The family of George Lafrance is saddened to announce his passing at the age of 79. He was the son of the late Yvon and Georgette Lafrance. George was born in Sudbury and grew up in Sault Ste Marie Ontario, where he worked at Algoma Steel for many years. He later lived and worked in Saint John (Saint John Shipbuilding) and Fredericton (NB Power). George was an accomplished artist and his amazing charcoal drawings hang in many homes across Algoma and beyond. He was a lover of sports (especially his beloved Montreal Canadians) and animals. He will be deeply missed. He is survived by his daughter, Michelle (Micheal Carr); siblings Monique (late Doug McTaggart), Raymond, Claude (Glenys), Gerald (Karen), Nicole (Dave Dubé), and Jean (Tez); his former wife and mother of Michelle, Marilyn Erb (nee Lake), as well as his former wife Connie Bishop. The family wish to extend their deepest gratitude to the kind and devoted staff of Mill Cove Nursing Home. At George’s request all arrangements will be held privately, and have been entrusted to Oromocto Funeral Home. Donations in memory of George may be made to the SPCA or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
