Obituary of Doris Bernice Muriel Howe

The family of Doris Bernice Muriel Howe are sad to announce her passing at Hospice House, Fredericton, New Brunswick, on July 17, 2022. Born on March 9, 1925, she was the daughter of the late John and Bertha (Howe) Meade and loving wife of the late Earle Howe. A devoted wife and mother, Doris was renowned for her baking, most especially her homemade bread and baked beans. She had a green thumb, and loved her flowers, plants and the great outdoors. And everyone who met her walked away with a knitted dish cloth. She will be missed by her children, Donald Howe (Joy), Bertha Palmer (Glen), Sharon DeWaepenaere (John), Nancy Babin, Brian Howe (Carolyn), and Robert Howe (Pam); sisters Etta Robertson and Eva Howe; 18 grandchildren, 39 great grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild, as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Doris was predeceased by her grandson, Randy Howe; great granddaughter, Grace Howe; sisters, Florence and Helen; brothers, George, Charles, Harvey, Kenneth, Carl, and Wilfred, son-in-law Hermel Babin; and daughter-in-law, Nancy Howe. The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff at Hospice house and Extra Mural for their kind and compassionate care of our mother. A visitation will take place at the Oromocto Funeral Home on Wednesday, July 20, 2022, from 2:00 – 4:00 and 6:00 – 8:00 pm. A funeral service will be held at the Oromocto Baptist Church on Thursday, July 21, 2022 at 2:00 pm, with Rev. Dr. Perry Hanley officiating. For those unable to attend, a live stream of the service will be available at the following link: www.obchurch.ca (Scroll down and click on "Watch Live"). A private family interment will take place at the Pine Grove Cemetery. The family has asked anyone attending these events to please wear a mask. Donations to the Canadian Cancer Society, Diabetes Canada, or a charity of one’s choice in Doris’ name would be appreciated by the family.
