Obituary of Dick Donovan

The family of Richard William “Dick” Donovan, 86, of Oromocto, New Brunswick, sadly announces his passing on October 2nd, 2022, after a hard-fought battle with dementia. Dick was born on August 13th, 1936, to Sadie Donovan McSorley in Barker’s Point, New Brunswick. After graduation, Dick went on to have a fulfilling career driving trucks, eventually finishing with working for Fredericton City Transit. In 1987, he met Dorothy Dunphy, and they wed in 1989. After retiring in 1992 from the city of Fredericton Transit Division, Dick went back to driving trucks, retiring again at the age of 72. Dick was predeceased by his mother, Sadie Donovan McSorley, and his grandparents, Everette and Mary Jane (Vickers) Donovan. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Mary Jane (Donovan) Jessup; Granddaughter, Jordan McClure (Tanner); Grandson, William Jessup, and great-granddaughters Adalyn and Emberly McClure. He is also survived by his step-sons, Michael Young (Sylvie), Tim Young (Darlene); step-grandsons, Jesse Young (Celeste), Richard Young (Rachel), Robert Young, Ryan Young; step-great-grandson, Kurt Young; brothers, Jim McSorley (Diane), Joe McSorley, John McSorley (Mary), and sisters, Jean Clarke, and Jane Whilock (Irvine). A private family Celebration of Life will take place at a later date. For those who wish, memorial donations may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
