Obituary of M. Irene Middleton

Martha "Irene" (Bagley) Middleton of Maugerville, NB, passed away peacefully on October 7, 2022 at the Orchardview Long Term Care Home, Gagetown, NB, at the age of 89. She was the beloved wife of 64 years of Reginald "Reg" Middleton.

Born on August 9, 1933 in Sheffield, NB she was the daughter of the late William and Florence (Moore) Bagley. When she and Reg married on June 28, 1958, they settled in Maugerville where they raised their three children.

She was loved very much and will be missed by her husband Reg; her three children, Cindy Middleton (Réal), Terry Middleton (Alyson) and Troy Middleton (Angela); six grandchildren, Jason Middleton (Amanda), Jessica Matush (Cory), Allison Kalb (Chris), Ryan Middleton (Yvonne), Maegan Middleton (Kyle) and Julia Middleton; two great granddaughters, Arya and Kaylee; sisters-in-law, Ruby, Phyllis Welch, Shirley Patterson, Judy Thompson, Gail Tucker, as well as several nieces and nephews; and a large circle of friends.

In addition to her parents, Irene was predeceased by brothers Richard, Kenneth and Darrell Bagley, and sisters Jean Levesque and Donna Emberly.

Irene was always there for someone who was in need; always ready to lend a hand to family or community. She was an active member of the Sheffield United Church, singing in the choir and serving as an elder. She loved the outdoors, her vegetable gardens, making pickles, bread & cookies, country music (and dancing), her 'rocking chair', wordsearch, watching birds and the St John River flow by. Her greatest joy was her family.

Although Alzheimers may have taken her memory, it could not take her loving spirit of kindness. Her smile lit up the room and was 'full of the love that she always had for others'.

She was loved by everyone who had the privilege to meet her.

To the caregivers and staff of Orchard View Long Term Care Home in Gagetown, NB our heartfelt thanks for taking such wonderful care of our beautiful angel these last few years.

Visitation will take place at Oromocto Funeral Home on Friday, October 21, 2022 from 2 - 5 pm. A graveside Celebration of Life service and interment will be held at the Sheffield United Church Cemetery on Saturday, July 22, 2023, at 11am. Donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Society of New Brunswick or a charity of the donor's choice.
