Obituary of Rick Gerald Morrisey

It is with immense sadness and heavy hearts that the family of Rick Gerald Morrisey announce his sudden passing on September 25, 2022 at the Foothills Medical Centre in Calgary, AB.

Rick is survived by his dear sisters Linda MacDonald and Sharon McInnis (Jay), his nieces Valerie (Peter), Jena (Todd) and Samantha (Kodi), great nieces Lauren and Ali, great nephews Nathan, Colton and Boden, as well as very special aunts, uncles and cousins. We would be remiss not to include his loving Calgary family, Betty, Shannon and Angie, their families and many close friends in NB, NS, QC and ON, and his many close cousins who he enjoyed visiting throughout his travels.

Rick is predeceased by his adoring parents, Gerald “Gerry” Ray Morrisey and Mida Marie (Durette) Morrisey.

Rick was born in Kingston, ON, and later moved to Oromocto, NB, where he spent his childhood and young adult years before settling in Calgary. As a young man Rick worked at a variety of jobs eventually leading to a wonderful 27 + year career with Canada Post where he worked in NS, NB, BC and AB. He was a sports enthusiast; either playing racquet ball, soft ball, tennis and badminton. Rick was an avid fan of curling and tennis and enjoyed following these sports, often with his sister Linda on the phone from AB and NB as they "watched together".

Rick loved camping, enjoying time with family and friends, east and west. Rick had a big heartful personality, a wonderful soul and loved meeting new people, especially on his long daily walks. Rick was a kind and generous man, always full of joy and happiness, who would go out of his way to help anyone. He loved his family both east and west with all his heart, and we loved him with all of ours. Rick will be missed, loved, cherished and will be forever in our hearts. Rest in peace, our dear brother, until we meet again.

A Funeral Service was held at the Oromocto Funeral Home Chapel on Sunday, November 20th, 2022 at 12 pm noon.  A Celebration of Rick's Life followed at the Oromocto Legion. Interment was held in the Oromocto Pioneer Gardens Columbarium. A recording of Rick's memorial service is available at the following link, https://vimeo.com/773082536
