Obituary of Dorothy Anne Evans
We are sad to announce the passing of Dorothy Anne Evans, “Dot”, on November 1, 2022 at Hospice House Fredericton. Born on July 30, 1945, in East Pubnico, Yarmouth County, Nova Scotia, she was one of the fifteen children born to the late Maude and Willian Hatfield.
Dot was a friendly, outgoing lady who made new friends easily. You could always find her on any given afternoon at the local Tim Horton’s in Oromocto chatting about her favourite subjects: wrestling, birds, and Elvis Presley. The things she loved, she would honour by adding to her tattoo collection, numbering 22 at last count. Notable additions include “The King of Rock and Roll” himself and her heart surgeon (appropriately over her heart).
Dot will be missed by her loving husband of 58 years, Joe; her son, Dave and his wife, Bonnie and their two children, Jonah and Kelsi. Her youngest son Terry and his children, Rachel and Brandon. Her last surviving sister Myrtle Magennis; brothers-in-law, Charles and Edward; sister-in-law, Louise, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
In addition to her parents, Dot was predeceased by her son, Richard “Rick”; siblings, Vivian, Elmer (Jenny), Kenneth (Molly), Blanchard, Evelyn (Basil), Douglas, George, Odessa (Curtis), Betty, Robert (Sharon), Donald, William “Junior”, and David; brother-in-law Scottie.
As per Dot’s wishes, there will be no visitation. A private family interment will be held at a later date. Donations to the Canadian Cancer Society, or to Hospice House Fredericton in Dot’s name would be appreciated by the family
