Obituary of Patricia Catherine Taylor
It is with great sadness the family of Patricia "Pat" Catherine Taylor announces her passing on December 29, 2022. Pat was born to the late William and Mabel MacKeigan in Sydney Mines, Nova Scotia, on January 12, 1945.
She is survived by her husband of 56 years, John Lawrence Taylor, and her daughters, Laurie (Michael Vincent), of Riverview, NB, and Nadine (Shawn Read), of Kamloops, BC. She will be deeply missed by her grandchildren, Erika and Alex Vincent, and Emma and Nicholas Read. They will forever be her pride and joy. Pat is also survived by her sisters, Willena, Nadine (John), and her brother Frank (Shawna). Pat also had a chosen sister, Yvonne (Johnny). Pat was also was pre-deceased by her sisters, Joan (Keith), Elaine (Ray); brother-in-law Joe; brother Thane, and infant sister, Corrine.
Pat had three loves in her life. Her loving husband, her family, and her faith. After her family had grown and married, she spent much of her time volunteering for her church and her community. A devout catholic, Pat has been a member of the church choir at both St. Vincent DePaul and St. Mary’s Church at CFB Gagetown. She was often seen walking around Oromocto in the early mornings for her daily exercise and missed it and her "Road Friends" deeply after she became ill and was unable to get out. She also missed her two-day a week exercises with the "Recycled Teenagers" and her Seniors Club meetings. Later in life, she spent much of her time volunteering as a coordinator with the Living with Cancer group as well as the Relay for Life. Pat was a 27 year survivor of cancer, role model and champion for those who battled cancer, always thinking of others. Her family would like all to know that Pat did not lose her battle with cancer. For over 27 years she kicked cancers butt!
On behalf of the Taylor family, we would like to take this opportunity to give a special thank you to the staff of the Oncolgy Unit at the DECH, especially Dr. Razza and Dr. Bea Sainz ; the staff of Oromocto Extra Mural, especially Wendy Ring and Michelle Tizzard; Dr. Frenette and Dr. McDonald of Palliative Care, and Dr. LeClerc and staff. Their dedicated service and compassion went above and beyond and our family is so grateful. Also, to all of our family, friends and acquaintances, for all of their prayers, love & support.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 1, 2023 at the Oromocto Funeral Home from 4:00pm to 7:00pm. Funeral Services will be held at St. Mary's Chapel, CFB Gagetown on Monday, January 2, 2023 at 2:00pm. A Celebration of Pat’s Life will follow at the Oromocto Legion.
