Obituary of Ronald Beverley Currie
The Currie family wishes to announce that, after a lengthy illness, Ronald Beverley Currie of Jemseg New Brunswick, died on Tuesday, March 14th, 2023 at Hospice House in Fredericton. He was 78 years old.
Ronnie lived most of his life on the family farm in Jemseg. After High School, he worked on highway construction crews throughout New Brunswick, but returned to the farm upon the death of his father in 1968. Ronnie raised cattle, planted acres of corn, potatoes and strawberries, and worked for many years as an Operator on the Gagetown Ferry. He was a gentle, patient, soft-spoken man, loyal to his community, and well-liked by everyone. He will be missed.
Ronnie was predeceased by his parents, Clarence and Phyllis (Coy) Currie. He is survived by his older brother Robert Currie (Marilyn) of Quispamsis; his three nephews, John (Claudia), Mark, and Mike; and by his great-niece, Alisha.
Special thanks go to Dr. Gregory Haines, and the doctors, nurses and staff of the Saint John Regional Hospital, the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital, the Oromocto Public Hospital, the Grand Lake Country Care Home, and Hospice House in Fredericton.
A service in memory of Ronnie will be held at the Oromocto Funeral Home on Monday, March 20th at 1:00 pm with the Rev. Andrew Horne presiding. A visitation with the family prior to the service will begin at 11:30 am. Ronnie will be buried later this spring at St. James’ Anglican Church in Jemseg. In lieu of flowers, Ronnie asked that donations be made in his name to the St. James Building Fund.
