Obituary of Christopher "Polch" "Boy" Kenneth Joseph Polchies

It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of Christopher Kenneth Joseph Polchies on June 8th, 2023. Born May 30th, 1974, in Woodstock, NB, he was the beloved son of Emmanuel and Cynthia Polchies.

Christopher will be greatly missed by his daughters Taylor Smith (Jackson), Trenna Polchies, and Tarynn Polchies; grand-daughter Layne Smith; brother Christian Polchies (Cheryl); sisters Robin Paine (Kenny), Crystal Polchies (Brian), and Calesta Polchies; nieces and nephews Mitchell Vienneau, Alexandra Vienneau (Terrance), Emmanuelle Vienneau (Jacob), Hunter Polchies, Horatio Polchies, Nic Paine, Natalie Vienneau, Lydia Vienneau, Kennedy Polchies, and Nevaeh Polchies; as well as many cousins, uncles, aunts, godchildren, and friends.

Christopher was predeceased by his granddaughter Kinsley Smith; grandparents Oliver and Marie Polchies, and Charles and Annabelle Sark; as well as several aunts and uncles.

Christopher was a giant teddy bear who spent every day with his family and friends. He loved playing the drums while jamming out with his buddies, fishing with his brother and cousin Michael Ward (Jennifer), playing pool with family and friends, and going for drives listening to his all-time favourite band, The Tragically Hip.

He will be remembered as such an incredible dad and grandfather. He would do anything he could for his friends and three girls. They were his entire world. He grew up and lived on the Oromocto First Nation and was seen as a great role model for his community. Over the years, he touched so many lives, while working in the field of policing, addictions counselling and spent over 20 years working with First Nation’s Youth in the Oromocto school system. He was someone who just made the world a kinder, brighter place! He had the best smile and the most contagious laugh!

There will be a visitation held at his parents’ house at 25 Wel-A-Mook-Took Street on Oromocto First Nation, Tuesday, June 13th and Wednesday, June 14th, 2023, from 1-6 PM on both days. A memorial mass will be celebrated at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church Thursday, June 15th, 2023, at 11 AM with Father Charles Udeh as celebrant and burial to follow. A reception will be held in the church hall following the service. Donations in Christopher’s memory may be made to the IWK Childrens Hospital.
