Obituary of Larry Harvey

Larry Harvey passed away peacefully on September 30, 2023 at White Rapids Manor, Fredericton Junction, with his much loved family, Tara and Judy, by his side. Born on December 20, 1946, he was the son of the late Pauline Gullison and Lloyd Harvey.

Larry will be missed by his siblings, Lyman Harvey, Elaine McIntyre, and Lorrel Harvey; nieces and nephews, Allan Ashfield (Dianne), Dianne McLaughlin, Keith Ashfield - deceased (Judy), and Marion Fletcher (Bruce); special great niece, Tara Ashfield, who took care of him with such kindness, as well as many great and great-great nieces, nephews and friends.

In addition to his parents, Larry was predeceased by his sisters, Glenna Dakin and Nora Locke.

Larry’s pride and joy was working on and driving his ’71 Pontiac Catalina (but only in the summer, storing it dutifully each winter to protect it from the elements). His love of cars was seen when he and his close friend, Jonathan, drove around the local car dealers, checking out the new cars and guessing at the prices. They would join their other friend, Steven, in his garage to talk politics, cars or maybe catch a women’s hockey game (men’s hockey being boring these days). He took great pride in his work as a custodian, ending his long career working at St. Thomas University. A joker and a tease, you could often find him in the Tim Horton’s parking lot making someone laugh.

A very sincere thank you to the nurses and staff at White Rapids Manor for all their compassion and care. A special thank you to Mary for all your kindness shown to Larry and to Tara as she sat with him over the last days.

Modern Celebrations & Cremations has been entrusted with the final arrangements. As per Larry’s wishes, there will be no visitation or service. A private family burial will take place at a later date. For those who wish, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society in Larry’s name would be appreciated.
