Obituary of Douglas Hudson

It is with profound sadness that the family of Douglas Frederick Hudson announce his passing on September 1, 2023. Born June 11, 1957 in Brandon, Manitoba, Douglas was the son of the late Frederick and Margaret (née Langevin) Hudson.

Doug will be forever missed and loved by his son Issac Woods-Hudson, his friend, Liberata Versoza and Issac’s mother Johanne Woods. He is also survived by brothers, Patrick (Shih-Shu), Richard (Pauline), William (Thuy), sister Katharine (David) as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family and friends. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by brothers Robert, Lawrence and Montgomery.

Doug joined the Militia as a young man becoming an officer September 1, 1977, starting in the Royal New Brunswick Regiment, moving on to the Regiment des Voltigeurs in Quebec City. He also worked with the military as a comptroller at Army Headquarters, St. Hubert QC and as a staff Officer with the 3 Field Engineer Regiment, Westmount QC in the 1980’s. He finished his career in the forces in 1995 as a captain with The Black Watch in Montreal. He enjoyed sailing and served as Commodore at the Armed Forces sailing club in Montreal, CFSA Pointe Picard.

Douglas worked hard earning his officer training, Bachelor of Arts at St. Thomas University in Fredericton and Master of Business at St. Mary’s University in Halifax. He made Montreal home where he settled working mainly as a certified financial planner and accountant.

Doug had many interests including, music, sailing, cycling, martial arts, reading and spending time with his son, Levy, and friends, most recently good friend Bob Boutilier.

There will be no visitation. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from St. Vincent de Paul Church on Thursday, November 16, 2023  at 2 PM with Fr. Callistus Abazie as celebrant. There will be no reception. Interment will follow in the adjoining cemetery.

Donations may be made to Canadian Cancer Society, Last Post Fund, Legion Branch24/106 NDG, or a charity of your choice.
